The leader of the National Liberal Party and patron of the Anzauni National Party, Muli, has officially declared his intention to contest the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, setting the stage for a competitive political race in the constituency.
Muli made the announcement on Monday evening while addressing Kitui-based media practitioners during a dinner meeting, where he said his decision was motivated by a strong desire to offer transformative leadership and to effectively represent the interests of residents at the national level.
He used the forum to outline his political vision, emphasizing inclusive development, accountability in public service, and people-centered leadership. According to Muli, Kitui Central requires focused representation that prioritizes service delivery and strong legislative input in Parliament.
The aspiring MP noted that engaging the media early in his campaign was a deliberate strategy aimed at promoting transparency and fostering open communication with the public. He said the media plays a critical role in informing citizens and holding leaders accountable.
Muli expressed confidence that his political experience, coupled with a national outlook, would appeal to voters across Kitui Central. He added that his leadership approach would be guided by consultation and consensus-building.
He further revealed plans to begin extensive consultations across the constituency in the coming months as he lays the groundwork for his 2027 campaign, pledging to listen to the concerns and aspirations of wananchi.
Muli now joins a growing list of aspirants eyeing the Kitui Central MP seat, which will be vacant after incumbent Dr. Makali Mulu is expected to seek the Kitui gubernatorial position in 2027. Other contenders in the race include Kyangwithya West MCA and Deputy Speaker Hon. Nzilu, Bonnie Musambi, Crispus Ileli, and former UDA senatorial candidate Stephen Kilonzo.
