Mwingi West Member of Parliament Hon. Charles Nguna on Thursday hosted President Dr. William Ruto in an extensive development tour of Mwingi West Constituency, Kitui County. The visit saw the Head of State inspect the progress of the Kwasiku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road and officially flag off the KSh 2.3 billion Kitui County Last Mile Electrification Project.

President Ruto, who was warmly received by thousands of residents, reaffirmed his government’s commitment to equitable development across all regions of the country. He emphasized that his administration will continue serving all Kenyans, regardless of their political affiliations or how they voted in the last election.

“This is how we move beyond tribal politics; it is how we bring the country together behind a common development agenda,” the President said while addressing residents gathered at Kwasiku. He noted that development must reach every corner of the country as a way of promoting national unity and economic transformation.

The President inspected the ongoing works on the 33-kilometre Tulia–Migwani–Mbondoni road, which is set to open up the region for trade, transport, and investment. Once complete, the road will provide a vital connection between Kitui and Mwingi, easing the movement of goods and services while boosting local businesses.

The KSh 2.3 billion Last Mile Electrification Project, which was officially launched during the visit, will connect over 20,000 households in Kitui County to the national power grid. This initiative is expected to spur rural electrification, improve living standards, and promote small-scale enterprises across the region.

Governor Malombe commended the national government for the continued partnership in improving infrastructure and public services across Kitui County. He said the joint efforts between the national and county governments will greatly enhance connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and uplift the livelihoods of residents.

MP Charles Nguna was lauded by the President for his relentless pursuit of development projects in Mwingi West. Ruto noted that Nguna’s consistency and dedication to service delivery have played a major role in ensuring the region attracts national projects. “Your MP has been very consistent in pushing for development for his people. We are ready to cooperate with him for the sake of progress,” the President stated.
