The Kitui County Assembly has formally received and committed the Supplementary Budget Estimates 1 for the 2025/2026 financial year to the Committee on Budget and Appropriations for scrutiny and consideration.
Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, while presiding over the afternoon sitting, confirmed that the supplementary budget estimates—submitted to the Assembly on November 4, 2025—would now undergo detailed review in line with the law. He urged the committee to expedite its consideration and present a report to the House for approval to ensure timely implementation of development programs and uninterrupted service delivery to the people of Kitui.

In the same session, the Kitui County Finance Bill, 2025, was tabled for its first reading. The Bill seeks to outline various taxes, rates, fees, and charges on goods, services, and properties, including land and buildings, business permits, markets, agricultural produce, outdoor advertisements, health services, vehicle parking, entertainment, and mining activities.
Speaker Kinengo emphasized the importance of the Bill, noting that it provides the framework for the County Government’s revenue generation and fiscal sustainability.
Additionally, the County Annual Development Plan (ADP) was committed to the Committee on Finance and Economic Planning for examination. The committees will subject the documents to public participation in accordance with Article 196(b) of the Constitution and Section 115 of the County Governments Act, 2012. After integrating public and sectoral committee views, reports will be presented to the House for final approval.
