National Liberal Party leader Dr Augustus Kyalo Muli has called for the protection of democratic space in Kenya, emphasizing that the country is bigger than any single leader or political party.
Speaking during a public engagement, the National Liberal Party chief urged political players to respect the will of citizens and allow a free and competitive environment ahead of future elections. He stressed that democracy thrives when all voices are allowed to participate without intimidation or undue influence.
Dr Muli noted that Kenyans alone have the constitutional right to decide who should represent them in various leadership positions. He warned against attempts by individuals or parties to control political processes, saying such actions undermine democratic principles and national unity.
The party leader further encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and actively participate in governance by exercising their democratic rights responsibly. He said an open political space ensures accountability, transparency, and better leadership outcomes for the country.
His remarks come amid growing national conversations about political tolerance, inclusivity, and the need to safeguard democratic freedoms as the country gradually shifts focus toward the next electoral cycle.
