Kitui East Constituency is currently without effective representation in Parliament, Chief Officer for Environment and Natural Resources Mr. Henry Nyamai has said.
Speaking on Saturday during the burial of the late Ngunga, Nyamai, who is also an MP aspirant for the constituency, criticized the current area MP Nimrod Mbai, claiming residents have been left without leadership and a strong voice at the national level.
โThe truth must be told. Kitui East today has no MP,โ Nyamai told mourners, drawing loud reactions from the crowd. He accused the incumbent of neglecting the electorate and failing to deliver on key development priorities.
Nyamai further called for unity among residents, saying the late Ngungaโs legacy should inspire political change in the constituency.
โThe greatest honor we can give to the late Ngunga is to unite as one people and vote out MP Nimrod Mbai,โ he said.
His remarks come amid rising political temperatures in Kitui East as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election. The burial turned into a platform for political messaging, with calls for accountability, unity, and renewed leadership dominating the speeches.
Nyamai has in recent months intensified his grassroots engagements, presenting himself as an alternative focused on service delivery, environmental conservation, and inclusive development in Kitui East.
