The Kitui County Assembly has unanimously approved three nominees for key senior positions in the county government, paving the way for their formal appointment by Governor Dr. Julius Malombe.
The approval followed a vetting process conducted by the relevant House committee, which assessed the nominees’ academic qualifications, professional competence, and suitability for office.
Those cleared for appointment are Agnes Mulewa as County Secretary, Timothy Muange as County Attorney, and Christopher Okumu as Secretary of the Kitui County Public Service Board.
Speaking to the media at his office after the approval, County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to working harmoniously with the county executive to ensure effective governance and improved service delivery for residents.
“I want to assure the Governor that we are fully in support of his administration even as we respect the separation of powers,” Kinengo said.
The Speaker added that the Assembly was satisfied with the credentials and competence of the nominees.
“We have looked at the names presented to us, their academic credentials and competencies and are strongly convinced that they fully qualify in their respective positions,” he stated.
Kinengo emphasized that cooperation between the legislative and executive arms of the county government is essential for driving development and addressing the needs of the people of Kitui.
The three officials now await formal appointment by Governor Dr. Julius Malombe to officially assume office and begin their duties within the county executive.
