Veteran Kitui politician and former Senator David Musila has officially announced his retirement from active elective politics, marking the end of a long and influential public career that spanned decades. The seasoned leader, however, was quick to clarify that his decision does not amount to a complete withdrawal from public life.
Speaking to supporters, Musila said he will continue working closely with the people of Kitui and the wider region, offering guidance and linking communities to government opportunities. He emphasized that even outside the ballot, he remains committed to ensuring that the voices, needs, and development priorities of his people are heard and addressed at the national level.
In a notable political declaration, Musila also endorsed President William Ruto for a full two-term tenure. He argued that leadership stability and continuity are critical ingredients for meaningful development, adding that sustained governance allows long-term projects to be fully implemented for the benefit of citizens.
Musilaโs remarks position him firmly in the role of an elder statesmanโone who, despite stepping away from elective contests, intends to remain a key political influencer and advisor. His endorsement is expected to carry weight, particularly in Kitui County and the wider Ukambani region, where he commands respect as a veteran leader with deep grassroots connections.
