President William Ruto has announced an unprecedented national infrastructure programme that will see Kenya construct 30,500 kilometres of new roads over the next decade, including 2,500 kilometres of dual carriageways and 28,000 kilometres of additional roads across the country. Speaking during a special tour of the Rironi–Mau Summit Road and Nakuru Town, the President said the massive expansion is central to transforming Kenya and positioning it among developed nations within a generation.

The Head of State described the programme as a bold, future-shaping investment aimed at unlocking economic opportunities in every region. He emphasized that mega projects such as the Rironi–Mau Summit highway will catalyse growth, ease transportation, and enhance Kenya’s competitiveness in regional and global markets.

Alongside flagship highways, President Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving feeder roads that link towns, villages, markets, and farms. Such roads, he noted, are essential in connecting producers to consumers and opening up rural economies. During the tour, he launched the tarmacking of the 15km Ngata–Roret–Njoro road and later addressed residents and traders at Salgaa Township in Nakuru County.

The President said the government is deliberately shifting away from “ordinary and mediocre” project delivery, opting instead for excellence and the highest standards in all infrastructure undertakings. This, he added, ensures that Kenyans benefit from durable, efficient, and world-class transport systems.

President Ruto reiterated that the ultimate goal is to build a better connected, more competitive, and more prosperous Kenya, not only for today’s citizens but for future generations who will inherit a stronger and more modern nation.
