Former celebrated radio journalist and political figure Bonnie Musambi has joined the people of Ukambani in praising President William Ruto for what he termed a “game-changing and historic development tour” across Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni counties. The extensive multi-day tour saw the Head of State launch and commission major development projects, sparking renewed political and economic optimism in the region.
According to Musambi, President Ruto’s administration has committed more than KSh 110 billion to transformative projects in Ukambani – the largest investment ever directed to the region by any government. The funds will support critical infrastructure, water provision, healthcare, housing, and agricultural innovation, with the aim of unlocking Ukambani’s long-stifled economic potential.
Musambi further highlighted the landmark gathering of over 10,000 grassroots leaders at the Kitui State Lodge, which he described as a turning point for local politics. He noted that the meeting opened a fresh chapter for Ukambani, signalling a shift toward “purposeful and issues-based politics” rooted in development and unity rather than division and rhetoric.
The outspoken leader thanked President Ruto for not only recognizing the region’s strategic importance but also for actively involving local stakeholders in shaping the development agenda. He emphasized that Ukambani leaders and residents are ready to support the government while remaining vigilant to ensure promises translate into tangible benefits.
“With new roads, new homes, new opportunities and, most importantly, new hope, the people of Ukambani can now envision a future where development is no longer a promise but a lived reality,” Musambi said, pledging his commitment to helping steer the region toward inclusive growth and prosperity.
