PS Jonathan Mueke Links Libyan Investors with Kenyan Livestock Farmers to Boost Beef Exports

The Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, has successfully facilitated a partnership between Libyan investors and Kenyan livestock producers. The engagement aims to open up lucrative market opportunities for Kenyan beef exports to Libya.

Speaking during the meeting, PS Mueke underscored the government’s commitment to expanding international markets for Kenyan livestock products as part of President William Ruto’s broader economic transformation agenda. He emphasized that such collaborations would not only boost farmers’ incomes but also strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional leader in livestock production and trade.

Hon. Mueke encouraged livestock keepers across the country to enhance the quality and health standards of their animals in order to meet export requirements and maximize their earnings. He further noted that the Ministry, in partnership with the private sector, is investing in improved breeding programs, disease control, and modern processing facilities to ensure competitiveness in the global market.

The PS reaffirmed that the government’s ongoing efforts to secure international markets for Kenyan beef are aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to empower rural communities through value chain development and increased access to export opportunities.

This latest development marks a significant step in deepening Kenya-Libya trade relations and positioning Kenyan beef as a premium export commodity in North Africa.
