The County Government of Kitui has concluded a two-week capacity-building training for hoteliers aimed at enhancing service delivery and strengthening the tourism sector across the county.

The closing ceremony, held at the Multipurpose Hall in Kitui Town, was graced by the Deputy Governor and CECM for Tourism, Hospitality and Game Reserves, H.E. Wambua Kanani, who presented certificates of participation to Managers and Directors from the local hospitality industry.

Before officially closing the event, H.E. Kanani led participants in observing a moment of silence in honour of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, who passed away yesterday while receiving treatment in Kerala, India.

Speaking during the event, Kanani urged the hoteliers to apply the knowledge and skills acquired from the training to elevate standards in the hospitality sector, noting that improved service quality was key to attracting both local and international tourists.

He highlighted that the exercise, conducted in partnership with the Tourism Fund and Tseikuru National Polytechnic, made Kitui the 17th county to benefit from the nationwide hospitality training initiative. โ€œThese skills and certifications will enhance service delivery in the hotel industry and, in turn, boost tourism in the county. With the recent launch of the Kitui Tourism Circuit, our workforce must be ready to deliver world-class service that places Kitui on another level,โ€ he said.

Kanani further reaffirmed the County Governmentโ€™s commitment, under Governor Dr. Julius Malombeโ€™s leadership, to supporting the tourism value chain through strategic partnerships, training, and empowerment programs that position Kitui as a top tourism destination in Eastern Kenya.

Directors from the Tourism Fund who attended the ceremony included Patrick Ngโ€™ere, Silas Tochim, Dorcus Balanya, and Lorna Nyamweya.

Delivering the Kitui County Promise.
