Kitui Women Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu has urged local leaders and residents to stop attacking former Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu, saying her legacy in the county remains unmatched. Speaking during a public forum, Dr. Kasalu praised Ngilu for delivering transformative development projects during her tenure, noting that she excelled even at a young age—an experience she says mirrors her own political journey.

Dr. Kasalu emphasized that Ngilu’s contributions to health, water, and women empowerment programs cannot be erased by political disagreements. She credited the former governor for setting high standards in public service and breaking barriers for women in leadership, not only in Kitui but across the country. According to her, Ngilu’s record “speaks louder than political noise.”

The Women Representative called for respect and unity, urging leaders to allow Ngilu to retire peacefully after decades of service. She insisted that politics should be about building and not tearing down those who have made significant sacrifices for the county. “We must honor those who came before us,” she said.

Dr. Kasalu further told residents that she is ready to “take up the mantle” and continue Ngilu’s legacy of development and empowerment. She assured the people of Kitui that her leadership will focus on inclusive growth, support for women and youth, and improved access to basic services. She said her current work demonstrates her readiness to lead even more vigorously.

She concluded by calling on the people of Kitui to rally behind leaders focused on progress rather than political fights. Dr. Kasalu reaffirmed her commitment to delivering tangible results, adding that with unity and shared purpose, the county can achieve even greater milestones.
