Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA MARK Nding’o Urges National Government to Embrace Innovation Over Privatization
Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of Kitui County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Mark Ndingo, has called on the national government to prioritize innovation and automation in public institutions rather than resorting to privatization. Speaking to the TCD Digital Media in Kitui, Ndingo emphasized that automation and the adoption of modern technology would greatly enhance efficiency, accountability, and service delivery in government departments.
According to the youthful MCA, privatization often leads to job losses, reduced public oversight, and the marginalization of vulnerable communities. He argued that Kenya has a wealth of skilled youth capable of driving innovation and developing local solutions to public sector challenges. Ndingo insisted that the government should instead invest in capacity building, digital infrastructure, and innovation hubs to tap into this potential.
“The focus should not be on selling public enterprises but on transforming them into efficient and competitive entities through automation and innovation,” Ndingo said. “This approach will promote transparency, create employment opportunities, and contribute to sustainable economic growth,” he added.
Hon. Ndingo further noted that counties such as Kitui are already benefiting from the adoption of technology in service delivery, citing digital revenue collection systems and e-governance initiatives. He urged both the national and county governments to collaborate in scaling up such programs across all sectors.
The MCA reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies that empower local entrepreneurs and innovators. He called on leaders at all levels to embrace progressive ideas that prioritize people-centered growth over profit-driven privatization, noting that this is the surest path to building a resilient and inclusive economy.
