Wiper Leaders Rally Behind CPA John Makau Kimwele for Mwingi Central 2027 Race

A section of Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya leaders allied to party boss and opposition presidential hopeful Kalonzo Musyoka are reportedly pushing CPA John Makau Kimwele to vie for the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat in the 2027 general elections.

Insiders within the Wiper Party say the move is driven by growing concerns over the conduct of the current MP, Gideon Mulyungi, who has allegedly been at odds with fellow Wiper-elected leaders, including Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, County Women Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu, and Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna.

According to sources close to Kalonzo’s campaign team, the party is keen on fielding leaders who can work harmoniously with colleagues as part of a united front ahead of the presidential race. “The opposition presidential candidate, H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka, wants all stakeholders on board — from mama mboga to businesspeople, scholars, and professionals,” said a party insider.

Support for CPA Kimwele is said to be growing on the ground, with various community groups and opinion leaders rallying behind him as their preferred Wiper candidate for Mwingi Central in 2027.
