Wildlife and ecological conservation is crucial in protecting our environment and ensuring that local communities reap benefits from ecotourism, The cabinet secretary for tourism, wildlife and national heritage has said.

Malonza was speaking after she held a briefing session with a team – from the State Department of Wildlife led by PS Silvia Museiya – working on translocation of rhinos to Loisaba Conservancy which is managed by Loisaba Community Trust.

The conservancy currently supports wildlife conservation, sustainable livestock, and ecotourism operations – improving the livelihoods of the neighboring communities.

Once undertaken, the translocation exercise will improve the biodiversity and attractiveness of the sanctuary to tourists; consequently increasing the number of visitations to the benefit of local communities and economy. #BottomUp
