If you want to get honest counsel, consult from a failure in that area. Successful people will never tell you the secrets of their success because it might be questionable or rather they are scared that you will overtake them. My Party Wiper has a lot to worry about Makueni Deputy Governor joining Ruto’s Party to contest as Women Rep this year.
As a person who contested and lost terribly in 2017 polls, I will not take Andelina Mwau move casually or wish it away. For you to win an elective seat in Kenya you need influence, resources and a very good strategy. She has all. Now that the current Women Rep Rose Museo is contesting for the highly coveted Makueni Gubernatorial seat, it leaves us very exposed. We should like never before be worried about the seat that has not even attracted the attention of any elected female MP or MCA.
Among the prominent candidates eyeing for the seat this year are Wavinya Nzioka and Jacinta Wanza who came second and third simultaneously with a sizable amount of votes in 2017 polls. Others include Nominated Wiper MCA in Makueni County Assembly Mbula Mutula, former Nominated MP Grace Mwewa, former elected MCA Caroline Munanie, Eunice Musavi, Faith Kinyumu, Winnie Mukosi, Jane Kitundu, Nzula Nduluku, Jenifer Kianga, Sarafina Muendo, and Damaris Maweu.
Though most of them including Mbula, Wavinya, Wanza, Munanie and Musavi have declared to battle it out for the Wiper ticket, none of them matches the influence Andelina through County Government Projects. Despite her age Mwau is a seasoned political guru with vast women networks within Makueni County. She has the the influence, the money and the people at her disposal which most of her opponents who are youthful lack. As Kibwana’s Deputy Governor and Chair of Deputy Governor’s Caucus, Mwau has initiated many women programmes across the County.
Wiper might be forced to go back to the drawing board lest the seat goes the UDA way. Hate it or like it, we don’t have a strong successor of Museo. However, the available aspirants can seat down to sacrifice their bids in favour of one of them; then gang up and marshall enough support to beat Mwau. I will be stupid not to acknowledge that I never saw it coming. It was the last thing I expected after Mwau and Kibwana hosted the Azimio la Umoja Initiative and endorsed a Raila Presidency.
DP Ruto had prior settled for Wavinya Nzioka but she retreated and insisted that she can only accept the offer if only Kalonzo will accept to work with Ruto in 2022. Angered by her demands the DP went for Mwau who was a low lying fruit, she became fodder for UDA. Wavinya is now in back Wiper and breathing fire. However she is still facing a very stiff competition from Mbula Mutula who is the National Wiper Youth Democrats Secretary General and a close friend of the Party Leader.
This is not the only County seat Wiper might lose in Makueni. Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo who is contesting the Senatorial seat might succumb to Governor Kibwana who is seeking the same if status quo remains. My dear political party needs to do something extraordinary lest aspirant rivalry and Party Nomination fallouts cost us the two seats.
