Towering Kitui South Member of Parliament Hon Dr Racheal Kaki Nyamai is the shining star of the 12th Parliament, the COUNTY DIARY has established.
Leading in the women cohort at number one, Kaki has emerged as one of the best performing Parliamentary chairs in 12th parliament, media reported today.
Dr Kaki, at the helm of the Lands Committee, has been vocal, active despite serving as the chairperson of the Parliamentary lands committee – a highly sensitive docket.
According to Mzalendo Parliamentary publication, the performance of chairperson for land has been lauded as among the best and effective chair.
The top-performing committee chair was Kimani Ichungwa who chairs Budget and Appropriation Committee, while the second position went to Hon Joseph Limo who chairs the committee of finance and planning, the publication said.
Dr kaki who chairs lands committee was position three among the best performing committees chairpersons in the twelve parliament.
Kaki once attracted the attention of Speaker Muturi who lauded her for her consistent and organized performance in parliament terming Hon. Kaki as a ‘Consistent, organized and consultative chair’.
This is in addition to her best performance in Kitui South where she has been able to initiate and commission major projects that have changed the face and economies of major towns along the new Kibwezi Kitui-Migwani-Isiolo road.
“It’s a balancing act to be a chair and to be relevant the ground, ” Mp Kaki revealed when quizzed by COUNTY DIARY after the MZALENDO ranking report came out yesterday.
When asked how she manages to keep tabs on her lands docket and work as a legislator representation, Kaki said;
“Womenfolk have a rare gift, We are dexterous and we can multitask”, I actually need more responsibilities. “My father was an administrator and taught me the value of hard work”
Rachael, a trained academic surprised many when she defied the Wiper Democratic Party wave in her region to easily win the Kitui South parliamentary seat. Charity Ngilu has been her inspiration since she was in school.
In her term of service, she would like to push for an improved standard of education, adequate water, food security and equitable distribution of CDF in Kitui South.
