Many marriage counsellors have no marriages to talk about. And of course you and I know how the children of religious leaders often turn out. Closer home, we know how cheap and easy it is to give advice than to follow it. And have you noticed how we are so kind and loving to strangers but we despise our very “own”?
Despite our high ideals, the reality on the ground is very different.
That should not surprise you and neither should it discourage you nor make you cynical. The mind works that way. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. We will be better people tomorrow but not NOW.
A man’s enemies are those of his own household. A prophet has no honour in his honetown.
We rarely respect ourselves enough to believe in our real nature. We are always “becoming” something, never “being”!
Create some distance between you and your mind and you shall see directly and with clarity.
