The Minister for Tourism, Sports and culture who doubles as the CEM for Environment and Natural Resources, has accused the area Mp hon Charles Nguna for playing Politics ON KIROBOKO SAND HARVESTING.
Mwingi West Mp wrote, “Good afternoon Members
- I’m still in the National Assembly chamber now and I am getting information that sand harvesting is being implemented forcefully, despite county assembly banning it, in view of this disobedience from kitui county government, we have decided to hold the mother of all demonstrations on Saturday together with all wananchi, MCA Kyome Thaana and MCA Migwani and another county MCAs, I will be formalizing the arrangements by tomorrow evening.
Gov Ngilu, CEC Koki Musau and MCA Kiomo Kyethani ward must come out clearly to explain whether we elected ( kuvasila is an appointee ) them to sell our resources illegally or to serve and listen to wananchi.
Mbisu ila inawia India ninakwiye !! Hon Charles Nguna, MP Mwingi West constituency.
The Minister speaking on radio TALKSHOW on Wednesday Morning Said, “I want to state categorically that what the county government of kitui is doing is purely within the law and the provisions of the constitution as pertains natural resources”.
The county government has followed due process and the relevant stakeholders have been involved and concrete agreements arrived at.
It’s a great shame for an MP to call for demos when he himself admitted in a letter dated 11th April 2020 that and I quote “It is worth noting that the constituents are willing to have the sand harvested…
“If truly CNN purports to represent the interests of the constituents, why is he not respecting their will as in bold above?
I am above politics of slideshows and would challenge CNN to get a court order against this exercise since he is a lawmaker and should know the legal procedures better as he purports.
Calling for demos when gatherings have been banned by the national government just to expose our people to risks of contacting COVID is so trivial of him and ignorance of the highest order.
Just to educate you if you care to know, what we are doing is simply desilting the Kiambere dam which generates the electricity we use. Ours is hydro generated electricity and if we don’t desilt the source of the water that generates it then how will you connect the people you promise electricity every day!!!
Stop cheap politics and do what the constitution dictates you to and give the county government ample time to discharge its mandate just like the county doesn’t overstep your mandate.
Hon. Patrick Koki Musau
Minister, Environmental and natural resources.
