Kitui executive member in charge of health and sanitation Dr Winfred Kitetu revealed a shocking data for early Pregnancy in kitui.
In her remarks at the World AIDS Day at Manyenyoni in Kitui Central on Wednesday, December 2021 – Kitui CECM for Health and Sanitation Dr. Winnie Kitetu said:-
The county reported 7679 of the teenage that is 10 to 19 years presenting in Kitui’s health facilities with a pregnancy and out of those, 509 were between the ages of 10 to 14 years in the 2020/21 financial year.
The CECM thanked the community for the role played in health related response in the “Na tukomeshe mimba za utotoni” in efforts to end inequalities, end teenage pregnancy, towards eliminating inequalities and new HIV infections.
On Sexual Gender based violence, the CECM noted that 361 cases were reported this year and only 234 of the cases were reported within 72 hours.
Kitui has reported a reduction *from 3039 persons in 2020 to 2326 this year in HIV new infections.
The county seeks to identify 95% of PLHIV, 95% put on treatment and 95% achieve viral suppression.
Kitui is committed end teenage pregnancy, gender based violence and new HIV infections.
