On 30th April 2021- The long awaited Uvaani borehole project by the County Government of Kitui was officially handed over to the community.
The occasion was presided over by Hon Eng Mati and Minister of health and sanitation Dr. Winie Kitetu, the event were marked with joy and elation.
Uvaani is among the thirsty and dryer villages in Mutonguni ward in Kitui county,water scarcity has been a prehistoric aching problem, the county diary reports.
Uvaani residents have been moving for 2kms to acquire water from Muthamo dam. Uvaani borehole will reduce poverty in Kangondi location as it will save time used in looking for water “Iveti syikambila kutia asee too kuthi kuuta kiw’o” one of the community member joyously said.
Uvaani community being an agricultural society the mothers and the youth are expected to start small scale farming businesses either individually or in groups which may attract empowerment fund and Mianda program allocation by Kitui county Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu.
During the inspection exercise across Mutonguni ward, the residents expressed untold joy to the governor for appointing Minister Winie Kitetu to head the delicate Health ministry.
“Expressing their enthusiasm to give Governor Ngilu Tano Tena in 2022 to continue working with the daughter of the soil”.
Again,the residents have praised the good working relations of hon Mati and the governor citing it has bore development fruits comparative to the previous regimes promising to re-elect the brace in 2022
Kangondi location has benefited with the renovation of Kangondi dispensary and the construction of kwa-kwaniki- kwa-Ndemwa via kamengo river and the grading program which was done in February this year.
