Ugandan MPs visit Kitui, to Benchmark KCHIC

The Ugandan Parliamentary Health Committee has visited Kitui County Referral Hospital (KCRH) to benchmark on the operation of Kitui County Health Insurance Cover (KCHIC).

Addressing members of the press the chair of the Health Committee Dr Micheal Bukenya, said his team is in Kenya and precisely in Kitui to find out how the health insurance scheme operates.

‘We are here to find out how health insurance scheme operates, because in Uganda we are in process of establishing a health insurance cover for our people. We came to Kitui because we know that Governor Ngilu is passionate about health issues right from the Ngilu bill and other bills related to health,’’ Dr Bukenya said.

Speaking on behalf of the County Director of Health, Dr Grace Rabut reiterated that KCHIC is the brainchild of Governor Charity Ngilu, which aims at ensuring that all residents living in Kitui can access quality and affordable health care.

‘’Kitui County Health Insurance Cover aims at providing quality, accessible and affordable health care services to more than 250,000 households living in Kitui County,’’ said Dr Rabut.
