In an activity towards enforcing the on-going charcoal ban in Kitui County, officials from the Ministry of Environment on Saturday nabbed two lorries ferrying Illegal charcoal, The COUNTY DIARY has learnt.
The two lorries (box body make) were arrested on Saturday 25th January by officers from the enforcement team led by Director of Environment and coordinated by C.O Clement Munyithya at the notorious Kanyonyo road block.
The lorries were laden with more than 251 bags of charcoal; one had 132 bags while the other had 119 bags.
The two vehicles were said to have been heading to Nairobi.
Three people have so far been arrested in connection with elicit charcoal trade.
They trio will be arraigned in court tomorrow on Monday.
