TRAGEDY AGAIN: POLICE IN MATINYANI RETRIEVE TWO BODIES AT MUTENDEA RIVER

Tuesday 29.10.2019 at around 1500hrs members of public sighted a decomposing body afloat river Mutendea that borders Kitui Central and Matinyani sub counties.

Upon informing the DCIO and OCS Matinyani who swiftly rushed to the scene: few metres from Mutendea bridge along Kitui- Kabati road – a place commonly known as kwa Kamosu, they managed to retrieve the body.

Upon retrieval from the waters, it emerged that the middle-aged lady had a one-year-old boy tied on her chest.

The bodies seemed to have been in the waters for some days thus damaged on the face making it difficult to identify them.

Police from kitui central and Matinyani urge residents in the area who may have lost a middle-aged lady with a baby boy to report to the nearest police station or reach their area chiefs.

This comes barely 11 days after 4 men from matinyani area perished after the van they were traveling in plunged into the river Mutendea, a few kilometers from today’s scene.
