Incoming Kitui Central Member of parliament Bonnie Musambi has proved to be a shrewd politician at a tender age. Only sky is the limit for the Mulango-born national media personality.
Here are some of the strategies he has applied:
Started his political bid in 2018 and has been consistent upto date. He visits his people twice or thrice every month.
His financial power has shocked even the elite class. Locals say they have never seen such a philanthropic leader in Kitui.
He recently put up his own Radio station Sang’u FM, which is being dubbed “the Capital FM” of Ukambani because of it’s unmatched quality.
He instructed his Radio staff to cover everyone including his rivals. Hon. Makali Mulu’s stories have been running there repeatedly. Musambi wants to run a professional radio station and not political as we are used to seeing in many other Kamba stations.
The father of two avoids confrontational politics and does not respond to online insults. This frustrates his “enemies” who end up joining his camp.
He already has a section of established political staff who attend to his people consistently eg, campaign manager, finance admin, catering, security, transport, Communication experts, logistics and on ground representatives.
Musambi seems focused on grassroot campaigns other than boardroom agreements.
He has the backing of youth, wazees and wamama on equal measure.
He is aware of all “Mangu” cartels and has a polite way of dismantling them. He recently parted ways with a well known noisy Kitui goon for persistently wanting to milk his pockets dry.
Musambi has refused to endorse any candidate in other elective posts and chose to concentrate on his own target.
- He has also refused to depend on endorsement and that’s why he’s financing himself. He once said, ” _Hawa watu wakiku-finance na wakupigie debe, ukipita wanakushika mateka ili wafanye kila kitu kwa constituency yako. Mimi nataka kila kitu kifanywe na mwananchi wa kawaida. Sitaki kuwa kibaraka wa mtu.”
