The Water Sector Trust Fund seeks to partner with Kitui – Dr Wathe


On Wednesday, 15th July, 2020, Kitui Deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau hosted the Management of Water Sector Trust Fund, the Sector is seeking to partner with Kitui County Government, to increase water supply in most areas in Kitui County, which is in line with Governor Ngilu’s Manifesto of increasing water supply in the County.

This was revealed by the program Director and Trustee Richard Mwania Musau, during a meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau on behalf of H.E Governor Charity Ngilu in his office, today.

During the meeting, Mr Musau stated that his team is out to implement the Presidential directives which aim at supporting community members to access Water and Sanitation Services without interruption during this period of Covid-19.

According to Mr Musau, the team will support the two water companies operating in Kitui County, KIMWASCO (Mwingi) and KITWASCO (Kitui) with water chemicals, and also pay company’s staff for a period of 3 months.

Mr Musau added, In this 2020/2021 FY, the trust fund will finance a Mega Earth Dam at Ili Mukuyu in Endau- Malalani Ward at a cost of 73 Million Shillings, a Public Sanitation Complex facility at Mutomo Urban Centre and provide 10,000 litres water tanks at all screening Health facilities, as mitigation response to Covid-19.

Dr Wathe lauded Mr Musau and his technical team who have already established more than 500 household flash toilets at different places in the County.
