As scores of people continue to congratulate the newly elected Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon Katisya Kinengo, a great number are wondering what happened to the Expected People’s Speaker hon Augustus Kyalo Muli.
Our sources tell us that the Dubai based businessman has already booked to leave for Dubai on Saturday 24th to return to his businesses in the United Arab Emirates
Through the media craze that followed his candidature, it appears that while everyone else seemed to appreciate the value he would have added to Kitui County Assembly, the MCAs only liked enjoying his dinners and generous money handouts.
A close interaction with the Kitui Town born businessman tells us a very different story and really raises questions as to why Kitui MCAs failed to embrace and choose this humble and hard working go getter candidate.
Born in a small village just one minute from Kalundu Market, Kyalo Muli emerged top in KCPE during his time and was sponsored to study in the then prestigious Starehe Boys’ Centre in Nairobi
Since then, this Kitui son has excelled in almost everything he has done.
By the time he was in his twenties, Kyalo Muli was already a millionaire and owned the Prestigious Nyali High School and Fun & Joy Music schools in Mombasa.
When he relocated to Dubai, Kyalo went on to become a music professor in Dubai’s top music centre, the Centre for Musical Arts (CMA) before being a Head of music at a British Curriculum school in Dubai.
In a short time he formed an Events Company in Dubai and was involved in bringing top Musicians from all over the world to perform in the UAE. From Kenya he bought a Churchill Live show to perform in Dubai alongside major local artists like Jua Cali and Nameless.
In a span of less than 15 years in UAE, Kyalo rose to become a celebrated musician and businessman.
At the age of 50 years, he appears to have achieved so much abroad and back in Kenya where he has managed to set up various businesses including water putrefaction, Security and restaurants.
His manifesto as shared with the press was to improve the welfare of the MCAs and help them become better managers and administrators.
He had planned to use his vast business networks to bring foreign partners and investors into Kitui County.
For all his efforts, the media branded him a Narc project and his own Wiper party disowned him.
Many MCAs interviewed have however confessed that Kyalo Muli completely had no equal in the race for the Speaker position.
How sad that party manipulation and corruption may have cost Kitui a candidate who could have brought something entirely different from the norm.
Let us hope that Speaker Kinengo will have a backbone and stand firm to protect the interests of the MCAs and to protect their integrity.
One thing is clear, the bar was raised when the Dubai businessman entered this race. Although he lost the election, he won the hearts of the masses and they will be watching every step that Hon Kinengo takes.
Things will never be the same again
