The fearless Kitui East Member of Parliament Nimrod Mbithuka Mbai has blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta for what he terms “undermining the mandate of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko”.
Mbai who was speaking this morning on KBC’s News Check blamed Kenyatta for unlawfully authorizing the transfer of County services to the National Government through Nairobi Metropolitan Services.
He said Sonko was spectacularly voted in by the Nairobians in 2017 polls and he should be allowed to finish his constitutional term after which those interested in running of the City’s capital can take over.
He also took a swipe at former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for failing to paychecks and balances on the Central administration especially after his handshake between himself and Kenyatta.
He called upon civil rights organizations and other relevant bodies to continue providing watchdog role to the Jubilee system which he accused of failing to deliver on its pre-election pledge.
City boss has reiterated his desire to terminate the Deed of Transfer of Functions going forward, citing numerous illegalities in the deed of transfer.
He said the deal was grounded in sheer bad faith and monumental breaches of the Intergovernmental Relations Act.
