Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has assured Kitui residents that the bridge connecting Nguni- Nuu areas will be constructed by the national government.
Addressing thousands of residents at the scene moments after the recovery of the drowned mwingi school bus, Governor Ngilu decried that the bridge had become a death trap and assured residents that the national government will intervene without delay.
“I spoke with transport cs James Macharia today and he assured me that the ministry has allocated sh. 600 miles billion towards this project”. said Ngilu.

Further, the governor called on the national government to expedite the project saying no more lives should be lost.
The residents decry that their only means of crossing from one side to the other was the killer bridge and no efforts to petition the government for the project had born fruits.
The recovery mission to ascertain the possibility of more bodies beneath the waters continue tomorrow.
