State Orders bars to Remain closed from 24th -25th during the census.


KITUI- County Commissioner Mr. John Ondego has ordered all bars and other Merrymaking joints to remain closed from 24th-25th as from 5 pm for the National Census exercise 2019 to start smoothly.

The County Commissioner was addressing members of the fourth estate on the preparedness of the National census exercise at his office in Kitui Town on Wednesday.

He was accompanied by county statistics officer Mr. Reuben Mwinzi, and the county security team, Dr. Ondego has said all the necessary arrangements for the census exercise have been put in place.

He reiterated that no Bar will be opened in kitui county during the census night on 24 and 25th, the government has ordered all the bars will be closed at 6 p.m and will remain closed for 2 days, The Commissioner insisted this move will ensure that no one is left out during the exercise.

The commissioner said that getting factual information from people who are under the influence of alcohol might not be easy, hence to avoid embarrassing scenarios he said all bars will be closed for 2 days to allow Kitui people to participate in the exercise.

The commissioner urged kituins to co-operate with enumerator’s to ensure the process is successful, The census process countrywide will kick off on August 24th and is expected to end on august.31 -2019
