
Kitui East Member of Parliament Hon Nimrod Mbithuka Mbai has asked hundreds residents who fled their home to return back as peace returned to the region, the COUNTY DIARY has learnt.
This comes a month after the Government ejected and chased away marauding Somali herders and shiftas who had posed a security threat to hundreds of residents.
Speaking to residents when he toured Malalani, Iumumba, Musenge, the tough speaking to Member of Parliament revealed that the schools which were closed ten years ago will be re-opened after the government forcefully evicted and chased away marauding Somali shiftas who had been terrorising the residents.
Meanwhile the MP has expressed his gratitude to the government for restoring peace in the volatile area.
Mbai also revealed that the Interior Ministry has started plans that will see a police camp put up in the area.
“We will also intensify the security patrols in the region” said Mbai, a former police officer and a member of Parliamentary the Security Committee.
Nimrod also disclosed that his Consistituency Development Kitty has so far pumped resources for escalated renovation of schools in the volatile area, calling onthose who have fled their lands to go back and develop their land while sending childrens back to school.
“Life is back to normal” he added.
