Why would Jesus choose to be born and die by crucifixion then obligate us to love him for his choices? That’s the story as we have been told over the years and if it is the truth about Jesus’ motivations, then I think we were wrong.
I mean, I Am in debt and a guy just volunteers to pay off my debt without asking me and then obligates me to love him forever or by force? No! Thats an affront to my human dignity. If a guy wants to pay off my debt, that’s ok and very welcome, but he must not make me his unwilling slave. I just don’t like that kind of manipulation from preachers
Love does not obligate. It gives of itself freely.
But do you think a guy like Jesus would do such a thing? Are you sure you have the true version of what Jesus did and for what?
