Relief for Catheter Patients In KITUI As Free Urology Camp Begins At Jordan Hospital



On Monday 22rd feb 2021 – The Top Urological Surgeons in the Country graced the Kenya Urology Camp 2021 edition which began at the Jordan Hospital in Kitui County, the County Diary reports.

The Urology Surgeons from Kenyatta Hospital, Moi teaching and Referral hospital, Mp Shah Hospital, The Aga khan Hospital University Hospital and Maseno University led by their chair Kenya Urological Department , Surgeon DR. Joshua Matu on Monday began successful catheter operations and the related illness at the Jordan hospital facility in Kitui County.

According to Kenya urological Secretary Dr JK Ikol, they are expected to attend to over 109 patients in Kitui county or even More.

The team of surgeons are both in Kitui referral hospital, Mwingi Level 4 and Mutomo Mission hospital.

‘Usually the operation costs of one patient which takes over two hours is close to over Ksh 300k, but the urology Camp is free of charge, it’s a blessing to our People”, Dr Joshua Matu a Leading Urological surgeon told the County Diary.


By the close of the camp which may take over three days is expected to have attended over 182 patients.

The normal rate of the operation in any leading hospital in the country, it could have generated over 32 millions Kenya shillings in their hospital, but it’s being done free of charge in Kitui.

“It’s a relief for our people The camp is free of charge in Kitui, what a blessing for our people” said a targeted beneficiary.
