On Thursday, 27 April 2023 – A team from the Kenya Red Cross paid a courtesy call on Kitui Deputy Governor H.E. Augustine Kanani in his office.
They discussed possible areas of partnership between the humanitarian aid agency and the county administration including emergency response and building capacity of first responders.
Others are establishments of a call centre in the county headquarters as well as rescue centres for gender-based violence (GBV) victims at Ikutha in Kitui South Sub-County and larger Mwingi.
The Kenya Red Cross delegation was led by Kitui County Coordinator Tiko Dennis, Japheth Ikime (Treasurer) and Fred Muinde (SLL Project Officer).
The Chief Officer for Performance Contracting, Disaster and Emergency Services Franciscah Kyui was also present.
