Radio Station Sacks 5 Staff Via Whatsapp As scribes Protests

A faith-based radio station based in Kitui, Lower Eastern region of Kenya has fired its five competent and the most celebrated staffs, retaining preachers only to host daily shows with one presenter going for seven hours a day, Media Reported.

A section of journalists working on a pious Radio station has taken their employer to court for what they termed unlawful dismissal according to the labour act.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church-sponsored Waikwato FM broadcast in both Kamba and Swahili dialects covering the three Ukambani counties. Its core business is preaching the gospel with the intention of convincing listeners to join their Christian faith.

After sacking letters through WhatsApp, the Human Resource department determined what to be paid contrary to labour laws.

The scribes fight for justice through the ministry of Labour hit a snag after the church leadership – SDA Central Kenya Conference) – the employer ignored ministries’ communication.
