President Uhuru Kenyatta calls on Politician conduct Peaceful Campaigns


President Uhuru Kenyatta has today reiterated his call for a united and cohesive nation ahead of the August elections.

Speaking at State House during a new year luncheon hosted for Members of Parliament believed to be allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga, Jubilee Mps, Wiper Mps, ANC Mps and other elected independent Mps.

He emphasized love for the country and ensured the development trajectory of this country is pushed forward.

The President reminded politicians to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections in August this year.

President Uhuru Kenyatta called on politicians to work together with a view of improving the lives of Kenyan, saying he will continue engaging with all leaders, irrespective of their political persuasions, to ensure that Kenya becomes a strong and united nation, the County Diary reports.

The Head of State commended Members of Parliament for passing crucial bills, which he said, are key to improving governance and delivery of services to Kenyans.

The President, who was joined at the luncheon by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, said the passage of the National Hospital Insurance Fund Bill will enable the government to fulfil its universal health allow us bill on NHIF and the other acts around the health sector are now going to open up and give us the opposition unity to be able to give our people that which we promised them of the universal healthcare,” he said.

On the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, President Kenyatta said the law is aimed at improving the country’s governance system and regretted that some leaders were demonising the amendment for short-term political gain.

ODM leader Raila Odinga commended MP’s for passing the Political Parties (Amendment) and urged the Senate to emulate the National Assembly for the benefit of all Kenyans.

Kitui South Member of Parliament Dr Racheal Nyamai said, she will lead her people to be in the next government saying the community can not avoid being in the Opposition.

This is an effort towards forming the next Government and you can be sure God willing I will be in the next Government, Mp Kaki added.

“The instruction from the people of Kitui south is that I choose the side where Government will be,” Dr Nyamai told Press.

The prominent jubilee legislator has kept her cards on the chest of the party she will run on.
Saying that she is a jubilee Legislator at the moment.
