She is Currently serving as the coordinator for this critical portfolio within the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, her commitment to transforming healthcare outcomes has garnered recognition, with a prestigious spot as a top-10 finalist for the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2023.
Madam Christine Sammy OGW has set her sights on a groundbreaking initiative aimed at significantly reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in Kitui County. Currently undertaking a course on Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) at Kenyatta University, she envisions a future where every pregnant mother in Kitui County receives the best possible care from conception to delivery.
Under the leadership of Governor Dr. Makau Malombe, Kitui County is witnessing a transformative approach to healthcare, and Madam Christine Sammy is at the forefront of this movement. Her initiative focuses on training nurses and clinical officers working in dispensaries and health centers across the county to perform ultrasounds on pregnant mothers before 24 weeks of pregnancy.
The primary goal of this training is twofold: early detection of any abnormalities in the developing fetus and continuous monitoring of the baby’s progress throughout the pregnancy. This proactive approach aims to identify potential complications at an early stage, allowing for timely interventions and care.
