Kenya was set on a high alert Wednesday after the country recorded 123 new cases of Covid-19, the highest number of infections recorded on a single day since the pandemic began.
The new cases pushes the country’s total number of infections to 1,471, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
This is the largest number recorded since the first case on March 13.
The new cases were out of the 3,077 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, the Health CS said.
This is also the largest number of tests that have been done so far. Of the new cases, Nairobi had 85 cases, Mombasa, 24 and Kiambu 4.
In Nairobi, 33 Mathare residents in the sprawling slums were recorded as positive. Three more people have died of Covid-19, raising the numbers.
Meanwhile The CS has a announced that Ministry officials will be visiting counties to see the preparedness in the fight against the pandemic.
Nairobi records the highest number with 80 more new cases followed by Mombasa.
The two counties are the epicenter of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Embakasi has recorded 4 new cases, this being a dorminant area populated by Kambas.
It’s good to note to assume that anyone near you is COVID-19 positive.
Always wear a mask always and keep the two-metre social distance.
The level of preparedness is directly proportional to the kind of Governance in the county level, CS Mutahi Kagwe.
“When testing is happening, kindly volunteer yourself,” Kagwe said.
