Over 735 Students In Kitui to Benefit from World Bank program.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has thanked the World Bank, with support from the Kenyan government for the full scholarships to needy students from the county.

The Elimu sponsorship which is being administered through Equity Bank will benefit 735 children selected from needy backgrounds.

Speaking today at Kitui High School when she met the learners who are set to join secondary schools this month, Governor Ngilu praised the sponsorship program noting that education is the best gift that can be given to any child.

“I encourage you to take this opportunity to empower yourselves. You’ve demonstrated that you can make it and we believe in you,” She said.

The beneficiaries will be commissioned tomorrow. They are currently attending a two day induction at Kitui School.

Kitui Branch Equity Bank Manager Francis Mbindyo said the bank sponsors needy learners with excellence performance to help them realize their dream.

He said the Group’s Country Chief Executive Officer Dr. James Mwangi will visit Kitui tomorrow to meet this year’s beneficiaries of the scholarship at Kitui High School.

The Equity Bank also runs a separate sponsorship program dubbed ‘Wings to Fly’ that targets needy and bright children.
