The identity of the middle aged man who succumbed to death after a grissly Kericho accident has been established, COUNTY DIARY reports.
Thomas Kiprono, 31 is said to have have lost his life after he was knocked down by a speeding lorry along the Sotik-Litein highway road in Bureti Sub County, Kericho county.
Confirming the incident Bureti Sub County police commander Felisha Nafula said the fatal accident occured on 24th of April at about 11:00 AM involving a motor vehicle its registration number KAS ***, a Mitsubishi FH tanker and a male pedestrian .
The police report revealed that the said motor vehicle was being driven from Sotik heading to Kericho and the deceased was seen staggering trying to cross the road to the right hand
He was knocked down and as a result of the impact he sustained serious head injuries and compound fractured legs.
Police also said due to the serious injuries the victim died on the spot.
“At first we didn’t make an effort of identifying the deceased since he had no documentation bearing his name. Later we finally found a piece of paper in his pocket bearing a telephone number and we contacted the owner of the said telephone number and managed to identify the deceased.
The deceased is said to have been staying in Litein town and hails from Ndanai in Bomet County.
The driver of the lorry was arrested and later released on a police bond. The lorry was driven to Litein police station for inspection.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kapkatet Sub County morgue awaiting autopsy.
