
Kitui Governor charity Ngilu Puts Miguka addicts on Notice
The County Government of Kitui has moved in to ban and regulate Muguka (Khat ) consumption among youth in kitui, The COUNTY DIARY can now report.
According to KEMRI research says chewing of miraa, locally known as Muguka can lead to myriad mental health problems.
These are the effects of chewing Muguka;
Severe side effects include migraine, bleeding in the brain, heart attack, lung problems, liver damage, changes in sex drive, and inability to get an erection (impotence).
Chewing khat leaves has led to infections that can cause problems such as pain below the ribs, changes in white blood cells, and an enlarged liver.
Speaking at Kitui Stadium, the Governor of Kitui HE Charity Ngilu requested the residents of Kitui to help her fight this menace which is threatening the lives of the people and more so the youth.
Nzambani Member of the County Assembly Hon Ruth Kyene has sponsored the Muguka bill which seeks to regulate the business.
