Camel herders are seeking to be granted permission from the authorities that will enable them to transit a number camels via through Kitui south to an unknown destination in Namanga Kajiando county, according to receipts of permit seen by the COUNTY DIARY.
According to a WhatsApp post by a Kitui South Member of Parliament, she wrote,
” Good evening. Kindly be informed that there will be no camels passing in Kitui south on foot. Anyone who genuinely wants to transport 🐪s will do it using trucks which will be escorted by the DCCs etc.
“These are people who have been paid to give pasture but we know that this is a strategy to push them into South Kitui game reserve. It’s important to note that these are corrupt officers who have made promises on pasture that they do not own.
Shame to the county officer who is doing this for money and also the other offices supporting this corruption ( it’s clear as you can see). Mp Rachael Nyamai wrote.
They should ask how we have suffered and the number of people we have buried before they make these money-motivated moves, she added.
However, the county commissioner has given me total assurance that this will not happen under his watch. I have also sought support in all the other National Government agencies this afternoon.
Be assured that we are on this matter, Give me a call if you sight a Camel🐪 being moved through Kitui on foot, Mp Kaki added.
