Kitui County contractors are set to benefit with road construction machinery worth Kshs 200 Million. Co-operative Bank will finance the purchasing of the machinery for Kitui Contractors Sacco (KICOSA) members whereby the County Government of Kitui shall be the guarantor.Governor Charity Ngilu struck the partnership with Co-operative Bank to empower KICOSA Members technically and financially with a focus of transforming residents from consumers level to producers. This is in fulfilment of her 5th Manifesto Pillar on wealth creation.
The Governor said that the County Government intents to grade 2000 Kilometer roads county wide (50Kms in each of the 40 Wards) at a cost of 400 Million. She said that it will be a total wastage of resources to spend at least a whooping 200 Million by the contractors to acquire machinery outside the county.”The bank will buy the grading machines, give them to you for use, then the bank will deduct their amount during payments of completed works” Ngilu said.The Governor spoke in Kitui Town during a meeting with Kitui Contractors Sacco members.
