67 organized groups of women, PLWDs, youth and bodaboda operators pooled from the larger Mwingi North Sub-County on Thursday joined in the bandwagon of beneficiaries of the Kitui County Empowerment Fund program.
A total of Sh. 3,070,000 was distributed amongst the groups in timely fulfillment of Governor Charity Ngilu’s zealous endeavor to better the livelihoods of Kitui residents through her ambitious wealth creation and empowerment programs.
Speaking in Mivukoni village, Kyuso Ward, Trade Chief Officer Fernandes Mbindu encouraged the other residents witnessing the disbursement of the cheques to follow suit and apply for the revolving fund to boost their income-generating ventures.
CO Mbindu was accompanied by Assistant Director for Civic Education Shadrack Musyoki alongside other county officers and local leaders.
County Fund Administrator Dorothy Mumangi and Civic Education Assistant Director Joel Ndingi led the cheque issuance exercise in Tharaka Ward.
The groups were drawn from Kanyengwa/Gatoroni, Gaciconga, Kamayangi, Ciampiu, Thangani and Kaumangi villages.
