Governor Charity Ngilu today emphasized on her plan of growing the county’s manufacturing (local production) agenda that will boost the economy of the locals.
Speaking at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Ikanga in Kitui South , Governor Ngilu decried that counties had lagged behind in embracing local production – saying that the move remains key in creation of jobs and poverty eradication.
The Governor said Kitui Textile Center is a prove that manufacturing is possible in the county and that time was ripe to explore more production opportunities.
She later joined faithfuls at AIC Mwitika in Kitui East for church service and reiterated her commitment to training youths in furniture making, leather, construction, beddings among ather products from basic materials available locally.
Later, the Governor visited Signdone Investments cordinated by Dr Kitonga Mwetu which is locally manufacturing Lala Smart mattresses and pillows near Zombe town and has employed more than 30 youths.
