Ngilu Tours Mineral rich Timboni on a Public Participation Mission

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu on Wednesday 21/2/2019 met residents of Timboni area in Kitui South Subcounty during a public participation over mining concerns in the iron-ore rich zone.

She said residents will reap benefits following the huge quantities of iron ore and transform the area’s economy from the mineral proceeds.

The Governor vowed to protect people living in the mineral-rich area against exploitative brokers ahead of the mining activities.

“We are in a new era where people will fully benefit from minerals in their areas. Nobody will be allowed to cheaply buy land and ship away our minerals,” she said.

Governor Ngilu later witnessed the formation of an interim committee that will oversee matters mining in the area.
