Ngilu takes Empowerment drive to Kitui Central & Rural, dishes out Sh.8.28M chequesMarch 14, 2022A total of 163 groups of women, PLWDs, youth and bodaboda operators in Kitui Central and Kitui Rural today received Sh.8,280,000 in empowerment cheques courtesy of Governor Charity Ngilu’s transformative development agenda.
Trade CEC Esther Kilonzi spearheaded the cheque distribution drive in conjunction with Chief Officers Kimanzi Zakayo (Office of the Governor) and Fernandes Mbindu (Trade).The trio was assisted by County Fund Administrator Dorothy Mumangi and Assistant Director for Civic Education Shadrack Musyoki.
A section of the beneficiary groups were drawn from Maliku, Mosa, Kalulini, Kitooni, Kanyangi, Kanyongonyo/Nzambia, Kiseuni, Kavisuni, Masimbini, Mbusyani and Mukameni villages of Kitui Rural Sub-County.
Those within Kitui Central Sub-County were drawn from Wikililye, Wii, Kyambiti, Kyangunga, Kathungi, Kwa Muli and Katulani villages.
The county team seized the opportunity to drum up support for Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Governor Ngilu’s reelection bid in the August national polls.
“It is now crystal that Mr Odinga will be the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya. That’s why Governor Ngilu has been in the forefront in rallying the Kamba community behind the former Prime Minister,” noted CEC Kilonzi.
“This is a golden opportunity for Kambas to sit at the high table where national resources are shared and allocated besides enhancing the community’s bargaining power in the country’s top leadership,” emphasized the county minister.
While expressing their unequivocal gratitude, the residents affirmed their resolve to be in the next government for enhanced resources as well as to reelect Mama Ngilu citing her visionary stewardship and stellar track record.
