On Wednesday, January, 6th, 2021- Governor Charity Ngilu has held a consultative meeting with KNUT leadership from Kitui South Sub-County.
Led by the Mutomo Branch KNUT chairperson, Clapperton Matuku Kilonzo, the teachers appreciated efforts by the Governor to set up many projects that have since empowered many youth across Kitui County.
“Your Excellency, we must tell you, the youth that hang around jobless are nowhere to be seen. A majority of them have been assimilated into KICOTEC and Manyenyoni, we can’t be any more thankfully.” Clapperton reiterated.
Further, they called upon the Governor to continue supporting teachers from across the county especially now during the Covid Pandemic.
In her remarks, Governor Ngilu called upon the teachers to actively participate in helping her alleviate the poverty situation in Kitui County.
“I appreciate your efforts while teaching our children, again, as you support me, support projects that will help children and their future too, and hold me accountable for it.” Governor Ngilu said.
Further, Governor Ngilu pledged her support to the teachers now and after their elections. The teachers paid a courtesy call to the Governors office ahead of the Kenya Union of Teachers national elections set to be held on 9th January this year..
