
Kitui Governor’s PressGovernor Charity Ngilu today on Wednesday held a discussion with officers from the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the Supreme Global who paid a courtesy call at her office in Kitui.
The gathering was convened at a time when the county is preparing for the livestock multiplication drive activity set to pick up in January next year {2020}.The Artificial Insemination programme seeks to help local farmers open a new front for wealth creation and fighting poverty through increased milk and beef production.
Farmers across the county have already benefited from the programme and breeds among others Ayrshire, Guernsey, Sahiwal and Friesian ar e manifest in many areas of the county resulting from the preceding insemination action.The County Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock is calling on farmers in the county to prepare for the January’s programme to ensure maximum numbers are inseminated.The visiting team was led by Supreme’s C.E.O Dr. Josh Odhiambo and ILRI’s Dr. Ochieng.
Others present in the meeting were Deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau, the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Emmanuel Kisangau and Chief Officer James Songolo.
