On Monday March 15, 2021 – Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu made an impromptu inspection tour at the Kitui slaughter house to check on the current working conditions at the facility.
Speaking while on the inspection, Governor Ngilu called for a speedily upgrading of the facility to boost it’s effectiveness, hygiene conditions and model of operations.
“There’s need to change this place…mordernize it’s operations and model to facilitate the growing cattle market in our region. Operations must be effective, clean and relevant to the market.” She explained.
Further, she proclaimed a stern warning to the few individuals who had grabbed and built on land belonging to the facility.
“There are no games here, anyone who has grabbed this land will face the law’s wrath. We shall not hesitate to bring down any structure built on this land. Let those culpable be warned, we shall spare no one’s house, shop, room or even wall.” She asserted.
This inspection sets a precidense for commencement of renovation works in that facility that services almost 80% of the slaughtering needs in the larger Kitui area.
Once complete, most operations will be mechanized, and a major improvement of both working and operations conditions.
This will be a major game changer towards the implementation of Governor Charity Ngilu’s 5 Pillar Manifesto.
She was accompanied by Kitui County Deputy Governor, Dr. Wathe Nzau a host of CeCM’s, chief officers and other county officials.
